name changing is not allowed
there is one exception : when your character has an offensive name, Anet can ban that character and give you the option to rename it. You'll only be able to use your character after you changed the name to something non-offensive. |

Name changing is not allowed for obvious reasons: Scammers could just change their name and be gone. Think carefuly before you make a character.

Lay off the paranoia please, Wu.
If they did introduce a name change NPC, there would be a severely prohibitive cost in PLATINUM. If, of course, ANet have any sense. But seriously. These conspiracy theories are just getting stupid now. |

case in point if a banned name is *changed* and you customize anything the item will still read for you only *customized for banned name* instead of the new name. |

I'd pay 10 bucks to change my character name. I've put so much time into that guy... but I've disliked the name for months. It's worth the ten bucks to me. Seems like such an easy thing to implement from a programmer's standpoint.

This has truly got o stop. As A-Net says "Once you create a character the only way to change the name is to delete that character, except for offensive names then there is an automatic form that will pop up that will require you to rename such character to a less offensive name". Thios has been posted several times here and is now getting stupid. Please use the search before posting.
Mega Mouse I have posted on a similiar subject and have placed A-Nets responce straight from their website to it. |

the programmers are the very ones saying even if Anet allowed it they would not be ABLE to do it as the account was set up to prevent tampering for security reasons. not only will they not change it they CANNOT change it |

I hear they are considering implimenting the feature in gw...
and dont say im BSing because it was someone from the ANet support teams. and I too would pay $10 to change my character's name. Hell... I'd pay $50 becuase its not worth starting over (my time is precious). |

I'd like to see this allowed in the game, I had over five hundred hours in
one of my characters before I noticed that I'd misspelled his name. I currently have over 4200 hours in him, but I'd still like to correct his misspelled name, even if if meant that he'd always be tied to his original name. I'd never be willing to pay more than a token amount to do it.... but I'd still like to be able to fix it. |

Mindless speculation and what people want in a Q&A forum isn't constructive. If you want to suggest it, go to the Sardelac Sanitarium forum instead. Closed.
